Designer Notes Pro is my own handwriting — the fast, confident scrawl that ends up all over my layouts, my comps, and the back of more than one envelope. It reads as genuinely hand-done, because it is. It's me on the page.
Four styles cover the range: Regular for everyday notes, Bold for the callouts and headlines, Italic for the asides, and Bold Italic when an aside needs to speak up.
It's made for UI mockups and wireframe notes, infographics, packaging that wants a handmade feel, editorial margins — anywhere you want it to look like a person was thinking, not typesetting. (If you want to kick the tires first, there's a free Designer Notes too — same hand, fewer styles.)
Designer Notes Pro is my own handwriting, taken from the notes in my sketchbook. It matches the look of a handwritten note, a diary entry, a sticky note or a sketchbook comment, so you can typeset notes that still read as written by hand. It comes in Regular, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic.
Designer Notes Pro was drawn from writing done with a Pilot Precise V5RT, a fine-point rolling-ball pen. There's something special about how that pen puts ink on paper, and the font keeps it: an even, slightly inky line rather than the heavier stroke of a marker or brush. That gives it a lighter, more personal look than marker fonts.
Designer Notes Pro is made for the notes designers leave on their work: wireframe and mockup labels, markups, callouts, sketch annotations and comments on comps. It also suits infographics, casual packaging and editorial margins, anywhere a page should look jotted by hand instead of typeset.
Designer Notes Pro is the full family. Designer Notes is the free original it grew from. Pro adds Italic and Bold Italic to Regular and Bold, covers the accented letters of Western European languages, includes the yen sign and is kerned, so letter pairs sit evenly. The free version has no accented letters and no kerning.
The four styles of Designer Notes Pro are the same hand in different moods. Regular is everyday note-taking. Bold is the callout or headline you want seen first. Italic leans forward for asides, and Bold Italic is the aside that needs to speak up. All four share the same letter shapes, so they mix cleanly on one page.
